Scrounge

THE TEMPEST'S TARGET

A planet smack in the middle of the Tempest’s splash zone, Scrounge gets hit by a constant barrage of ejected debris. The debris is extremely valuable – Core World artifacts, Tempestified husks from lost worlds, superlight engine parts – so Scrounge has become an exporter of found goods. Clans of Scrappers take on the highly dangerous work of collecting the fallen debris and transporting it to commercial shipping docks. They risk their lives in the shadow of the Tempest, which gets closer every day. The Guild severely underpays them.

SCROUNGE SURVEY (There is no text in this entry)

82 YEARS POST TEMPEST

As one of the few planets at the edge of the Tempest, Scrounge has a front row seat to the expansion of this galaxy-sundering storm. For those located further away, the Tempest doesn't seem to change much. It's imprint in the distance seems static - if it's visible at all. To those living on worlds closer to Silo and beyond, the Tempest is something they hear about. The threat of it's growth is as relavant to them as an asteroid hitting Gloom. Or at least that's how it can feel. This storm is unpredictable. The fact that it is currently only slowly expanding doesn't guarantee that that's how it will continue. One day it exploded into existence, so it very well might explode again. Even if it doesn't accelerate its growth, worlds like Scrounge will one day be consumed by it, and its slow creeping all-consuming, ever-destructive energies. For 82 years Scrounge has lived in the Tempest's reach, the world is barely hanging on. Many of the scrapper clans have been lost to Tempest energy surges and spikes. And things will only get worse. It's the next wold on the Guild's evacuation list after Olar. But Olar's evacuation has been on standby for years. Those wanting to get off Scrounge need to find another way - before it's too late.",
