Roost

SWARMING STARSHIPYARD

Ship design centers, shipbuilding factories, ship maintenance bays, ship renovation hangars, ship stripping yards, ship shops, ship slips – does it have to do with ships? Then Roost is the planet. Raw materials fly in, starships fly out. Transports, delivery crafts, luxury liners, tankers, haulers, military vessels, dropships, and more. The Guild controls the starships of the Wilds from blueprint to flight. Or at least they like to think they do. Anyone who owns a ship the Guild didn’t make, or flies one without the Guild's permission, should do everything possible to stay in the stars – just for the sake of defiance.

MILITARY STARSHIPS

More military ships are being built on Roost than have been since the Tempest eruption, which ended the Robot Wars. Post-Tempest, the Guild turned their attention to survival rather than domination and the ships coming off Roost were mostly tankers—for fuel and water transport—cargo ships, and small, efficient hop ships used by high-ranking Guild officials to hop around the Wilds and assess the state of the remains of their galaxy.

Things are shifting now, however. A number of different Guild military corporations have been commissioning ships from Roost, most equipped with both offensive and defensive weapon systems as well as state-of-the-art navigation systems. These nav systems are designed to communicate directly with multiple navigation beacons simultaneously, predict route adjustments in real time, and track the routes of other nearby ships, forecasting destinations and planning offensive maneuvers. All of this technology makes these new military ships primed for war.

This has raised the question of why. Perhaps the Guild military corporations are uniting to finally take down the Salt Lord and reclaim Glance. Or perhaps they are preparing for the much-anticipated Sparked robot fleet that is said to be set to come hurtling out of The Nothing with a taste for revenge. Or maybe their target is the escalating threat Freegunners are posing to spacelane travel.

There’s also the theory that the disparate Guild military corporations are finally turning on each other, amassing competing fleets with the goal of taking each other down and consolidating power. Whatever the case, it’s clear that the skies are not friendly anymore. For anyone.
