Clax
OUT OF SIGHT, TOP OF MIND
Hiding out in the Sea of Silt, Clax escaped notice for centuries, but now the Guild is claiming finders, keepers. They want to “understand” (read as: exploit) Claxton biology. Exceptionally long lifespans and the capacity to heal from most wounds are traits that would be extremely useful in commercial and military ventures. But the Claxtons already have everything they want right here on Clax, and both they and their wild world have proven difficult for the Guild to control.

THE BEFORE AND AFTER
Claxtons have long lives as compared to most other species in the galaxy. Most Claxtons live to late 200s early 300s. A lot can happen during that time. Including the eruption of a galaxy sundering storm. Most Claxtons alive now were also alive before the Tempest Eruption. They knew the Galaxy before it was broken. They knew the Guild when its home was in the Core Worlds. And they knew the Wilds when it was still a frontier. Many knew people who were lost to the Tempest. And those who traveled the galaxy knew worlds that are now gone. This kind of long-lived knowledge and experience sets the Claxtons apart from others. Their perspective is wholly different than others who live more average lifespans. They see more change. In some ways things matter less because there are more things that happen. And in some ways things matter more because the shockwaves effect longer spans of time. They have seen what the Guild has done since the Tempest Erupted. They know how parts of the Robot Wars unfolded. Not because they have been told or read it, but because they lived it. They know when they're being lied to or when history is being altered into a new narrative. Most Claxtons have no interest in the wider galaxy and live their whole lives on their homeworld. But those who do see the wider galaxy have persepctive that's worth understanding.
